10 Questions With...

Katie Griffin
Sr. | Women's Soccer

1. Why did you choose to attend Canisius?
It is in the best city, not too far from my home, and I really liked the smaller school environment.

2.  What are three words that you’d use to describe yourself?
Dependable, caring, and hard working.

3. What is your favorite moment as a Canisius student-athlete?
My freshmen year when I scored my first goal and it was an overtime game winning goal. I felt like a celebrity after. My sister actually assisted me on it and I’m pretty sure my mom cried tears of joy from the stands.

4. What is your favorite part about Buffalo?
There are so many opportunities and countless things to do in Buffalo. I love it.

5. If you weren’t playing soccer, what sport would you be playing?
When I was younger, gymnastics was the last sport besides soccer that I did competitively. I would’ve really liked to have been able to play volleyball also.

6.  Do you have a nickname? If so what’s the story behind it?
I have a lot of nicknames thanks to my last name. Griffindor (from Harry Potter) might be one of my favorites though.

7. What is your favorite T.V. show? What was your favorite T.V. show as a kid?
I don’t watch TV that often but when I do it’s usually to watch Law and Order SVU, Nashville, or Pretty Little Liars. As a kid I loved Sesame Street.

8. Is there a story behind your number?
The number that I really wanted was already taken, so the number that my coach decided to give me was number 16. My sister was number 17, so I swear that he gave me that number just so that we were next to each other in anything that used numerical order, including our lockers in the locker room for two years.

9. What is your favorite quote or phrase?
"Everything happens for a reason."

10. Who is your favorite athlete?
Abby Wambach because she’s fearless on the field.
