Canisius senior Brigid St. Leger from the women’s soccer team and senior Colby Wehner of the men’s lacrosse program have been selected to participate in the 2015 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, which will be held June 4-7 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. The Career in Sports Forum, an annual educational forum hosted by the NCAA, brings together 200 selected student-athletes to learn and explore potential careers in sports, with the primary focus on intercollegiate athletics.

"I am very excited that both Brigid and Colby have the opportunity to travel to the NCAA national office and be a part of this year’s Career in Sports Forum," Canisius Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Traci Murphy said. "The nomination process and the ensuing selections are very competitive, there are only 200 open spots for this each year. The fact that we have two student-athletes selected to go in the same year speaks to what we are doing here at Canisius and how well-respected our student-athletes are. Not only on our campus and in the local community, but also at a regional and national level as well."

This unique, four-day forum is designed to assist student-athletes in charting their career paths, as well as provide an opportunity to network and learn from current athletics professionals. Participants will hear from a variety of speakers and panelists during large, general sessions, and throughout the program engage as well with peers in focused, small-group classroom discussions called "Color Teams."

The cutting-edge topics brought by industry experts include: how personal values intersect with career opportunities, how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness, the key professional and career development information that assists with transition from a student-athlete to a professional, and the role of the intercollegiate coach or athletic administrator. Student-athletes will also network with their peers, as well as the key decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of intercollegiate athletics.
