10 Questions With...

Kevin Bleeker
Jr. | Men's Basketball

1. What is your favorite part about Buffalo?
Growing up in the Netherlands, I never really had any real wings before I got here, and I love them now. I also like how much the people support the sports teams, that’s pretty cool.

2. Do you have a nickname? If so what's the story behind it? Everybody on the team, the coaches and some of my friends call me Bleek. It’s just a shorter version of my last name

3. What is your favorite TV show? What was your favorite TV show as a kid? I’m watching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix right now, I also really like Suits and Game of Thrones. As a kid I enjoyed watching Rocket Power.

4. If you weren't playing basketball, what sport would you be playing? I played soccer until I was about 14 years old, but I am still a huge soccer fan, and I miss playing it. I would definitely play soccer if it wasn’t for basketball.

5. Do you and your teammates have an activity that you like to do outside of your sport? If so, what is it?
We play a lot of video games against each other, like NBA 2K and FIFA. Besides that we also hang out together and watch sports.

6. What is your favorite moment as a Canisius student-athlete?
Last year we beat Siena in Albany after three overtimes, I hit a big three pointer in the last overtime period. The best thing about it was that it was in front of my family who came to visit me.

7. What was your favorite toy as a child?
I never really played with toys as a kid. I was always busy playing around with either a basketball or a soccer ball.

8. Is there a story behind your number?
Number 14 was the number of Johan Cruijff, the best Dutch soccer player ever who played for my favorite team Ajax Amsterdam. As a kid I chose that number because of that, and I always kept it.

9. What is one interesting thing that someone may not know about you?
Growing up I had a pretty bad stutter, and although it has gotten better, I still have one. As a kid I was real insecure about it, but over time I’ve accepted it, and I don’t feel bad about it anymore.

10. Who is your favorite athlete?
My favorite basketball player is LeBron James, my favorite soccer players are Arjen Robben and Cristiano Ronaldo.
