Volleyball Team Returns Home This Weekend

The Canisius volleyball team will return to the Koessler Athletic Center for the first time in almost a month with matches this Saturday and Sunday. The Golden Griffins take on Robert Morris Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and close out the weekend with St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Griffs come into the weekend with a record of 5-9 and are led by junior Mary Boller, and sophomores Lauren Lackovich and Jess Stackhouse. Boller ranks first on the team with 195 kills, and her .346 attack percentage ranks second in the MAAC. Lackovich has a conference-high 532 assists and averages 10.04 assists per game. Stackhouse is the team-leader in digs with 210, and ranks fourth in the league with 4.12 digs per contest.
Robert Morris has an overall record of 7-8 with four of the team’s wins coming away from home. Janette Schneider has played in 51 games for the Colonials and leads the team with 137 kills.
Tawnya Storino ranks first on the team with 478 assists, averaging 10.86 per game. Alaina Gibson has played in every game, recording 290 digs for an average of 5.27 per game.
St. Francis (2-13) will be looking for their first road win of the season when they square off against the Griffs. Kristin Buter leads the Red Flash with 171 kills and 3.11 kills per game. Lauren Parisi has a team-high 287 assists, an average of 5.12 each game. Anne Roosevelt ranks first on the squad in digs with 204 and an average of 3.40 per game.
Canisius will also play host to Ryerson in an exhibition match Saturday at 6:30 p.m., following the match against Robert Morris. The Griffs will return home Wednesday, Oct. 5, to face the University at Buffalo at 7 p.m.
