Siena Hands Volleyball Third-Straight Loss

The Siena Saints came back from a 2-1 deficit to score wins in games four and five to knock off the Canisius College volleyball team by a score of 3-2 (30-23, 36-30, 22-30, 30-26, 15-12) Sunday afternoon in Loudonville, N.Y. The win was the third straight for Siena as the Saints improve to 14-11 overall and 3-2 in MAAC action. The Golden Griffins have dropped three matches in a row and fall to 8-15 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Canisius freshman Morgan Ammons (right) recorded career highs with 15 kills and 17 digs, while teammate Mary Boller added 20 kills two solo blocks and four block assists in the loss. Junior Aislinn Hayes added 10 kills and 16 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.

The host Saints had four players with double figures in the kills column, led by Nadine Honore's team leading 20 kills. She also had 11 digs in the win for Siena. Christine Gustafson added 16 kills and a match-high 22 digs, with freshman teammate April London posting a triple-double on the final stat sheet with 10 kills, 52 assists and 13 digs.

Junior Leigh Launhardt had nine kills, two solo blocks and eight block ass sits for the Griffs. Teammate Brittany Gerde was good for seven kills, 34 assists, two service aces and eight digs.

Canisius will return to action Saturday, Nov. 5, at local-rival Niagara in a key match in the Gallagher Center. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
