Martinez and Nasca Earn All-Tournament Honors

Junior Chelsea Martinez (pictured) and senior Erica Nasca were both named to the 2008 MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team.

Martinez, who was named to the All-MAAC First Team, scored one goal and added one draw control and one caused turnover against eventual champion Marist in the MAAC Semifinal. Martinez finished the 2008 season tied for the team lead with 35 goals to go along with 39 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers.

Nasca earned All-Tournament accolades for the second time in her career. The senior captain was also named to the 2006 team after leading the Griffs to the championship game. A 2008 first-team All-MAAC selection, Nasca recorded one goal, one assist, two caused turnovers, two draw controls and one ground ball against the Red Foxes. Nasca finished the 2008 season with five points, four goals, 26 ground balls, 25 draw controls and nine caused turnovers.

The Griffs finished the 2008 season with a 9-9 record and earned their second trip to the MAAC Tournament in school history.
