Christopher Mattingly ('88) - A four-year letter winner in track, Mattingly holds the school indoor track record in 500 meters (1:06.7) and 1000 meters (2:28.8). He also ran a 4:07.2 mile at the Empire State Games in 1986. Mattingly, a three-time team MVP, held a 3.36 GPA with a double major in English and political science and was named an Academic All-American candidate and the college’s 1988 Student Athlete of the Year. He earned honors as the track team’s Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years, served as captain of the track team all four years, and was co-captain of the cross-country team in 1987. As a sophomore, junior, and senior, he set numerous school records that have yet to be broken, in the 500- and 1000-meter races as well as other events, both individual and relay. In both 1985 and 1986 he was the 800-meter Upstate Champion.
