Jennifer Johnson-Smith ('91, MBA '93) - A four-year letter winner in women’s tennis, Johnson-Smith ranks first in career singles wins (56).  She was the first Canisius athlete to win an individual MAAC title (1989).  She went 16-2 in singles as a freshman in 1987 and followed that with a 9-6 singles mark as a sophomore, 17-2 as a junior and 14-2 as a senior.  Johnson-Smith’s career doubles record was 33-9.  She won 17 straight singles matches in 1989 and claimed the MAAC singles title. Johnson held the distinction of being both the #1 singles and #1 doubles player at Canisius College. She earned Most Valuable Player honors in 1989 and in the same year she won 17 consecutive singles matches, becoming the first Canisius College athlete to win an individual MAAC title. Her career record of 56 singles victories still ranks first in school history.
