The Griffs will celebrate their 20th anniversary beginning on Oct. 2. The weekend will include a contest against Mercyhurst on Oct. 3 at 3 p.m., followed by an alumni game.

A number of additional activities will surround the two contests. Ed Van Tine, the father of Western New York lacrosse, first coach of the Griffs and former Hamburg High School coach, will be honored throughout the weekend. Also scheduled are a Welcome Back Party on Oct. 2 and an alumni celebration the night of Oct. 3.

The 2010 men's lacrosse season is the 20th anniversary of Canisius' inaugural season in 1990. The program's first 20 years was highlighted by the 2008 squad that won the MAAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Current head coach Randy Mearns has been an integral part of the program for 14 of the 20 seasons - three as a player and 11 as a coach.

Canisius will also host Brock University on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. during the fall season and play at Binghamton on Oct. 24 at 1 p.m.
