Martin C. Mahoney, M.D., Ph. D. '83 - A Rochester native, Mahoney was the 1981 New York State champion in the 100 freestyle for the Canisius swimming and diving team. As a senior, he posted the top Canisius times in four different events. Mahoney held the reputation of single-handedly moving Canisius into a competitive swimming program, and for being virtually unstoppable in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. A Dean's list student, Mahoney earned his doctorate with Canisius College. While at Canisius, he was active in a variety of activities including being a chair to the Residential Hall Judicial Board to serving as a laboratory instructor. An author of 12 presentations and 48 publications, Mahoney graduated from the College with a doctoral degree in 1983.
