Philip Seymore '89 - Known for a 38-point explosion against Dayton, along with his buzzer-beating shot to defeat Rick Pitino's Boston Terriers, Philip Seymore was ranked as one of the top point guards in Canisius men's basketball history. The New York City native played with the Griffs for two years before being drafted in the seventh round of the 1982 draft by the New York Knicks. His career scoring average of 16.6 points per game was highlighted by a 17.5 average during his senior year. At the time of his induction, Seymore ranked among school leaders in assists (223). His 49.7% career shooting accuracy was the highest ever for a Canisius backcourt player, and he owned four free throw shooting marks including a streak of 33 straight during his senior year. His leadership helped guide the Griffs to a 19-8 mark in the 1981-82 season, and he later he went on to become an assistant coach with the Canisius team.
