The Canisius College men's lacrosse team is back in action on Saturday, playing at Denver. The two schools will meet for the first time with the game slotted to begin at 9 p.m. ET.
JONES ON TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
• Junior Adam Jones has been named to the Tewaaraton Watch List. The Tewaaraton Award is the pre-eminent lacrosse award, given annually to the player of the year.
• Jones is the first Griff to be listed as a candidate for the award.
• The 2010 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, Jones leads the Griffs this season with seven points, five goals and two assists.
JONES NEARS 100 CAREER POINTS
• Junior Adam Jones picked up this season right where he left off in 2009 and now nears a career milestone.
• During his collegiate career, Jones has totaled 92 points, 76 goals and 16 assists.
• The junior is just eight points shy of becoming the 15th player in the program's history to record 100 career points.
• Jones' 76 career scores currently rank 13th in school history.
CALLAHAN SOLID IN NET
• Sophomore goaltender Sean Callahan saved the best performance of his young career for No. 8 Cornell in the Griffs' latest game.
• In just his second collegiate start, Callahan recorded a career-best 12 saves, while yielding nine goals, against the nationally-ranked Big Red.
• After his first two career starts, Callahan owns a goals against average of 12.00 and a save percentage of .455.
BARKAS SHOWS OFFENSIVE SKILLS
• Senior defender Matt Barkas once again showed that he can be just as dangerous on offense as he is on defense.
• The senior scored his first goal of the season against No. 8 Cornell, his sixth-career score.
• Last season, Barkas recorded six points (4g, 2a), the most by a Canisius defender since the 1997 season.
CANISIUS - DENVER SERIES HISTORY
• The Griffs and Pioneers are meeting for the first time in school history.
• Canisius has played Denver coach Bill Tierney in each of the last four seasons when he was leading Princeton. The Tigers won each of the four contests against the Griffs.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
• Denver enters the weekend with a 2-3 mark after splitting a pair of games last weekend. The Pioneers lost to Penn, 11-7, on Saturday, before defeating Lehigh, 8-7, on Sunday.
• Last season, the Pioneers complied a 7-8 record.
• Alex Demopoulos has led the Denver offense through five games, recording 19 points, 12 goals and seven assists.
• Cameron Flint is tied for the team lead with 12 scores, while Charley Dickenson has posted a team-best eight assists.
• Zander Buteux has seen a majority of time in goal, posting a goals against average of 10.24 and a save percentage of .545.
