Hudson and Josh Heidinger are continuing
their seasons after wrapping up standout careers with Canisius this past year.
Hudson and the AHL's Rochester Americans are competing in the Calder Cup
Playoffs, while Heidinger is playing with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL
in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Hudson, a defender with the Amerks, has played in all three
postseason games while helping Rochester to a 2-1 series lead over Abbotsford.
In his three games, Hudson has recorded one assist and owns a plus/minus of +2.
A second-team All-Atlantic Hockey honoree, Hudson set school
records by a defenseman with 34 points, 14 goals and 20 assists during the
2009-10 campaign. He also netted a program-best 11 power-play scores. During
his career, Hudson set school record by a blueliner with 90 points, 44 goals
and 46 assists, while also holding the power-play (31) and game-winning goal
(9) records among all players.
Heidinger has appeared in four games during Cincinnati's
playoff run. In his first career postseason game, Heidinger scored the lone
goal in a 1-0 overtime victory to give the Cyclones the win against defending Kelly
Cup champion South Carolina. Overall, Heidinger has recorded three points on a
goal and two assists for the Cyclones.
Canisius' all-time leading scorer, Heidinger set school
records with 137 points and 95 assists during his four years with the Golden
Griffins. As a senior, Heidinger set career highs with 39 points, 11 goals and
28 assists.
Hudson and Heidinger are two of four Griffs to sign
professional contracts after the season. Dave
Cianfrini played for the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, while Jason Weeks was a member of the
Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.
