Women's Lacrosse Hosts Rival Niagara on Tuesday

The Canisius College women's lacrosse team welcomes Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara to the Demske Sports Complex for a midweek conference game. First draw for the Senior Day contest is set for 7 p.m.

SENIORS TO PLAY IN FINAL HOME GAME
• Five Canisius players will play in their final home game on Tuesday and the Golden Griffins will honor the five players with a ceremony prior to the game.
Alyson Brown, Marissa Brown, Ashley Curtis, Brett Poissant and Alison Rusak will all be honored on Senior Day.
• During their career, Canisius has totaled 29 wins and has improved its placing in the MAAC standings each season.
• The five players have combined to play in 284 games with 255 starts. They rank in the top 10 in every field statistic and have accumulated 212 points, 166 goals, 46 assists, 432 ground balls, 279 draw controls and 263 caused turnovers.

DALEY SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN VICTORY
• Junior Allison Daley earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading Canisius to an 11-7 MAAC victory over Siena.
• Daley stopped a school-record 20 shots in the win, while yielding only seven goals. She saved 74.1 percent of the shots she faced on goal.
• The junior topped her own school record of 19, which she set against Syracuse in 2008.
• For the season, Daley owns a goals against average of 12.32 and a save percentage of .491.
• Daley currently leads the MAAC and ranks fifth in the country with 11.08 saves per game. She also leads the conference and places 16th nationally with the .491 save percentage.
• During her career, Daley has stopped 458 shots, just 50 shy of the program's record.

GRIFFS DEFENSE HONORED
• When junior Allison Daley won MAAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades on Monday, she became the fourth-different Griff to earn the award this season.
• Senior Marissa Brown has been honored twice this season, while sophomore Megan Oosting and freshman Gina Molfetta also picked up the accolade.
• A Canisius player has been honored by the conference in five of the nine weeks this season, one more than the rest of the MAAC teams combined.

POISSANT DRAWS A SCHOOL RECORD
• Senior Brett Poissant also added her name to the school's record book against Siena.
• Poissant collected three draw controls against the Saints, raising her career total to 131. She passed former teammate Chelsea Martinez for first in the program's history.
• Poissant leads Canisius with 48 draw controls this season, tied for the second most in school history.
• The senior currently leads the MAAC and ranks 14th in the country with 3.43 draw controls per game.

CANISIUS - NIAGARA SERIES HISTORY
• The Griffs and the Purple Eagles are meeting for the 16th time in series history. Canisius has played Niagara more than any other school in the program's history.
• Niagara holds a 10-5 advantage all-time against the Griffs.
• Canisius has won the last five meetings in the series after losing the first 10 games against its rival.
• The Griffs have won the last three games in the series by an average score of 13.7 goals.
• Last season, Canisius outscored Niagara 13-3 in the second half en route to a 20-11 victory. Chelsea Martinez scored six goals in the win.

SCOUTING THE PURPLE EAGLES
• Niagara enters the game with an 1-8 record, including a 0-3 mark in MAAC play.
• The Purple Eagles have lost four-straight games since earning their only victory of the season on March 26 against Detroit, 10-9.
• Seniors Courtney Formato and Leigh Downing have led the Purple Eagles offense in 2010. Formato has recorded a team-best 20 points (13g, 7a), while Downing has added 19 points (11g, 8a).
• Alma Aponte has seen a majority of time in goal for Niagara, posting a goals against average of 17.00 and a save percentage of .310.
