2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year

Canisius College diving coach Meili Carpenter enters her third season with the Blue and Gold. She was appointed to the staff in the summer of 2010.

Carpenter enjoyed a decorated career as a member of the University at Buffalo swimming and diving team. The Boulder, Colo.-native was a four-time All-MAC honoree (2007-10) and three-time Division I NCAA Qualifier (1m, 3m, platform). Carpenter was also named the UBuffalo Female Athlete of the Year in 2010 after becoming a National Diving Championship finalist in the 1m and 3m diving events. She was also named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I University Division Second Team. The six-time Senior National finalist, recorded a career high finish of third overall.

Along with her coaching responsibilities, Carpenter competed at the 2012 Olympic trials, finishing eighth overall after qualifying at the 2011 USA Diving Winter National Championships.

Among more than 70 candidates, Carpenter was named a Sportswoman of Colorado by a media panel for her contributions in diving as both an athlete and a coach.

Carpenter earned a bachelors degree in 2009 from the University at Buffalo in chemistry and psychology. In 2010, she graduated from the University at Buffalo with her master’s of education in science education (grades 5-12).
