Pat Fahey Signs NLI to Join Golf Program

Canisius College golf coach Todd Hummel announced today Pat Fahey (Buffalo, N.Y.) has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Golden Griffins' roster for the 2011-12 season.

Fahey recently graduated from Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School where he was honored as a three-time Monsignor Martin Association All-Catholic player. In 2008, he teamed with current Canisius golfer Joe Vogl to help the Tigers win the All-Catholic Golf Championship at Harvest Hill Golf Center in Orchard Park, N.Y.

Fahey was recently chosen from a group of 250 nominees nationwide to represent The First Tee of Western New York program at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach July 8-10. The Nature Valley First Tee Open is an official PGA Champions Tour event that pairs 78 Champions Tour members with members of The First Tee Program in an event that will be televised nationally on the Golf Channel.

Fahey is currently playing in the 59th Annual International Junior Masters event at the East Aurora Country Club. Later this month, the Buffalo native will take part in the 89th Annual New York State Amateur Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

The son of Mark and Donna Fahey, he plans on majoring in economics at the College. Canisius finished the 2011 spring season in fifth place at the MAAC Golf Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
