The Canisius College women's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 in conference play by defeating Saint Peter's, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field. In the win, senior goalkeeper Caroline Robert recorded her third shutout of the season and senior midfielder Jenny Griffin scored her second goal of the season.

After a scoreless first half, senior forward Kelly Reinwald sent a cross over to Jenny Griffin, who drove the ball home to give the Griffs (7-4-1, 2-0-0 MAAC) the lead in the 58th minute.

The Griffs registered a 25-10 shot advantage over the Peacocks (1-9-1, 0-2-0 MAAC) with the Griffin sisters combining for nearly half the Griffs' shot. Katie Griffin more than doubled her previous career game-high (3), tallying seven shots while Jenny managed to get off six shots, one short tying her career game-high.

Robert posted five saves in her seventh career shutout, improving her season record to 7-3-1 as starter. 

After opening conference play on the road for a pair of games, the Griffs return home to the Desmke Sports Complex on Friday, October 7 to face Loyola at 7 p.m.

Notes: The Griffs have captured a win in their last six MAAC regular-season games, dating back to Oct. 22, 2010 at Fairfield... Reinwald's assist gives the school's all-time assist leader her 30th of her career... Canisius holds a 17-4-0 all-time record over the Peacocks...
