Frank Jagoda
Assistant Coach

Frank Jagoda is in his third season with the Canisius baseball program. Jagoda moved into the assistant coach position for the 2013 season after serving as a graduate student manager during the 2012 season.

During the 2013 season, Canisius made the first appearance in program history in the NCAA Tournament, after winning the MAAC Championship in Trenton, N.J. The Golden Griffins appeared in the Chapel Hill Regional, falling 6-3 to No. 1 overall seed North Carolina in a first-round game. Canisius set the program and conference records with 42 wins in 2013.

Jagoda works directly with the Canisius pitching staff. Two Golden Griffins — Garrett Cortright and Jon Fitzsimmons — signed professional contracts following their junior seasons in 2013. Cortright, a First-Team All-MAAC selection, was a 40th-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles while Jon Fitzsimmons, the 2012 and 2013 MAAC Relief Pitcher of the Year, signed a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Royals.

Jagoda came to Canisius from Jamestown Community College after serving as the taem’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. During his two-year stint at JCC, working with head coach Anthony Barone, JCC made two consecutive Final Four fall season appearances, earned a No. 2 and No. 4 seed in the spring National Junior College Athletic Association Region III tournament and set a school record for wins in spring 2010. In February 2011, Jagoda was part of the Detroit Tigers spring training camp while shadowing their Sports Performance Coach.

Jagoda served as the manager of the Wellsville Nitros of the New York Collegiate Baseball League during the 2012 season. He mentored a pitching staff that captured a league-leading team earned run average (ERA).

Academically, Jagoda received an A.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Social Sciences fro JCC while he finished his undergraduate studies at SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, graduating Cum Laude.

Jagoda received his Masters Degree in Sport Administration at Canisius in May 2013.
