Adam Jones '11 is
returning to Buffalo as a National Lacrosse League All Star. In his first
season in the league, the former Canisius College lacrosse standout was voted
as a starter to the NLL All-Star Game on Monday, which will be held at First
Niagara Center on Feb. 25.
The third overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, Jones
currently ranks third in the league in goals (15) and seventh in points (26).
Named the NLL Rookie of the Month after the season's opening four weeks, Jones
leads all first-year players in both points and goals.
Jones will return to Buffalo after having one of the most
successful careers in the Canisius program's history. The team's first
All-American, Jones accumulated 129 points and 98 goals during his tenure. He
ranks sixth in the program's history in career goals and 10th in career points
despite missing most of his senior season due to injury. During both his
freshman and sophomore seasons, the three-time all-conference selection led all
midfielders in Division I in goals.
"I'm pretty excited to get a hold of some buddies in
Buffalo," Jones said. "I want them to be there [at the game]."
Jones has shined throughout his rookie season with Colorado,
helping the team to a league-best 5-0 record. In the team's most recent game,
Jones recorded four points and three goals, including the game-winning tally,
while fellow Canisius graduate Dan
Coates '11 netted his first career goal in the victory.
