Stephanie Parrish is in her second year as an assistant coach with the Canisius College rowing program. Parrish returns to the Griffs' coaching staff with new responsibilities as the head coach of the novice program.
Parrish is familiar to the coaching style and expectations of Canisius College rowing head coach Joel Furtek, rowing for him at the University of Miami (Fla.). In her collegiate career, she raced at highly regarded regattas, including The Head of the Charles, the San Diego Crew Classic, and the University of Washington’s Opening Day Regatta in the stroke seat of the JV8 boat. At Miami, Parrish and her teammates finished in third place at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championships under the direction of Furtek, the best ACC finish of any Miami crew.
Parrish rowed for the Dublin Crew while attending Dublin Jerome High School in Ohio. In 2005, she attended the U.S. Rowing Junior National Development Camp as a sophomore.
Parrish graduated from the University of Miami (Fla.) in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology with an ESOL endorsement. She will be pursuing her master’s in special education at the College.
