The Canisius softball team will host a unified game with the College's Special Olympics softball team on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex.
Canisius assistant softball coach Kim Griffin and Dr. Lauren Cavanaugh, assistant professor of Kinesiology at the College, have been working with the Special Olympics team for the past few months. Because this new team did not gain entry into the Special Olympics State Games this fall, the team will join with the Golden Griffins for a special event at the Demske.
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on both teams. The goal is to draw a large crowd to support both teams and to make this event as memorable as possible for all the athletes.
