Looking to gain momentum as they entered the final weekend of non-conference action, the Canisius College women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 loss to host Bucknell at Emmitt Field on Friday evening. The Bison relied on a first-half hat trick to seal the victory, as they improved to 7-4-0 with the Golden Griffins falling to 2-7-0.

In the first half, the Griffs and Bison entered an offensive battle with 35  combined shots. Junior goalkeeper Megan Tock was called on to make 10 saves in the first half alone.

Bucknell's first-half lead was credited to forward Chelsea Garkowski, who scored a natural hat trick in the opening stanza to give the Bison a 3-0 lead over the Griffs, tallying goals in the 7th, 16th, and 25th minutes.

Bucknell kept the pressure on the Griffs in the second half, as forward Kayla Lee scored in the 56th minute on her lone shot of the evening to extend the Bison lead to 4-0.

Garkowski closed out Bucknell's scoring assault in the 62nd minute with her fourth goal of the evening to seal the team's 5-0 victory. Entering the contest as the reigning Patriot League Player of the Week with a multiple-goal performance against Cal State-Bakersfield on Sept. 14, the forward became the fifth Bison to register a four-goal perfromance.

Tock collected 11 saves in the loss, one short of her career-high total (12). Sophomore Brigid St. Leger wrapped up the contest with a pair of saves in the 17 minutes of play.

Bucknell's goalkeepers Sandita McDermott and Jessie Ashworth combined for the shutout with McDemott picking up the victory with six saves.

The Griffs generated 20 shots in the contest with reserves Megan Mahoney and Brianna Smith accounting for four shots each.

The Blue and Gold conclude their non-conference slate on Sunday afternoon against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure at the Demske Sports Complex with the kickoff set for noon.
