Carrig Goes Low on First Day at Turning Stone

Carrig and Spiotta Tied at Connecticut Cup

Canisius seniors Michael Carrig and Mike Spiotta each posted a two-round total score of 150 and teammates are tied for 26th overall after the first day of the 2012 Connecticut Cup in Ellington, Conn. As a team, Canisius is in 13th place overall with a 36-hole team score of 613.

Carrig shot back-to-back rounds of 75 at the par-72 Ellington Ridge Country Club for his 36-hole score of 150 while Spiotta shot 76 in the first round and closed out the day with a score of 74. Freshman Andrew Romano is tied for 63rd with his day one score of 155.


Hartford leads after two rounds with a team score of 591, while Iona is in second place with a score of 594. Iona's Dylan Newman leads after the first two rounds with his two-round tally of 141.


The final round of the Connecticut Cup will tee off on Tuesday morning. That will mark Canisius' final round of the 2012 fall schedule.
