Griffs Host Pair in Final MAAC Home Weekend

The Canisius College women's soccer team concludes play at the Demske Sports Complex for the 2012 season, hosting a pair of MAAC contests against Saint Peter's and Manhattan. The Griffs open the weekend on Friday evening when they host the Peacocks on Friday at 7 p.m. for Senior Day. On Sunday afternoon, the Griffs welcome the Jaspers to the home pitch for a contest at 1 p.m.

SENIOR WEEKEND
This weekend, the women’s soccer team will celebrate the careers of three seniors as they play in their final home contests at the Demske Sports Complex. The seniors include Brooke Bandazian, Keily Funk, and Emily Paquette. Each member of this senior class was a key contributor to the Golden Griffins capture of their first Regular Season MAAC Championship in 2010.

SAINT PETER'S NOTES:

• Saint Peter’s has dropped 11 consecutive contests, allowing 52 goals over that span.
• The Griffs are undefeated against the Peacocks in their last eight matches dating back to 2004. In the eight straight wins, the Griffs have outscored SPC, 30-3.
• In the team’s first MAAC game in program history, the Griffs captured an 8-0 victory over the Peacocks in 1992. The eight tallies in the contest set the mark for most goals in a MAAC contest for the Griffs.
• The Griffs’ last loss to Saint Peter’s came by the score of 2-1 in 2003.

MANHATTAN NOTES:

• In their last two meetings with Manhattan, the Golden Griffins have captured back-to-back wins over the Jaspers.
• The Griffs and Jaspers share a 4-4-2 (.500) record in their last ten matchups with Manhattan holding a 12-10 goal advantage.
• The visiting Jaspers are currently ranked last in goals per game (0.82) with only nine tallies.
• Despite their offensive struggles, Manhattan is dominating the net only averaging 0.92 goals per game, which ranks first in the MAAC.
