Senior
Samantha Good (Rochester, N.Y.) was
named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week by the
conference today. Good earns the weekly award for the second time this season and for the sixth time in her career.
Good
had the most productive weekend of her career by averaging 4.71 kills per set
and 1.57 blocks per set to go along with a .609 attack percentage and six
service aces in two Canisius victories. The senior middle hitter had a season-high
20 kills with a .571 attack percentage, five blocks and three service aces in
the four-set win over Manhattan. Good then posted 13 kills on 18 attack
attempts with six blocks and three service aces in the sweep of Saint Peter's.
The Rochester, N.Y. native had a .667 attack percentage in the sweep, the best
by any player in the conference this season.
In
conference play, Good ranks second in the MAAC with a .357 attack percentage
and is first in the league with a 1.10 blocks per set average. On the season,
Good leads Canisius in kills per set (2.43) and attack percentage (.317) and
ranks third in the league at 0.91 blocks per set.
Canisius
sits at 16-10 overall and 13-3 in the MAAC standings, tied for first place with
Fairfield University. The Golden Griffins have clinched a spot in the 2012 MAAC
Championship (Nov. 17-18 at Fairfield University). Canisius faces Iona on
Saturday, and Fairfield on Sunday, with a chance to win the program's first
regular-season championship.
