With only one day separating their last competition, the Canisius College men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in the Cleveland Dual at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Griffin men and women each captured wins over Case Western Reserve, Notre Dame, and John Carroll with each falling to the host Cleveland State Vikings.

The Canisius men defeated Case Western Reserve (149-91), Notre Dame (198 -38), and John Carroll (198-32). The Griffs' lone loss in the dual came at the hands of the Vikings, 149-91.

The Golden Griffin women also captured wins over Case Western Reserve (168.50-73.50), Notre Dame (163-76), and John Carroll (186-49). The visiting Griffs fell to the Vikings, 164-91.

"This was clearly our best meet of the year," said head coach Scott Vanderzell. "Throughout the dual, we had a great attitude coupled with a great race work. We are finally starting to get healthy as a team, as we prepare for the MAAC Championship."

Continuing to dominate for the Golden Griffin women on the diving boards was freshman Audrey Mulhisen, who set both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving school records. Mulhisen captured first in the 1-meter with a score of 235.55 followed by a second-place performance in the 3-meter by posting a tally of 250.65. The freshman broke both former Griff Kaeli Abdo's records, which stood since 2007-08.

Senior Shawn Parkhurst broke a program record for the second straight meet with his second-place finish in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:43.23. The mark was previously held by fellow senior Corey Petrie, who set the record last season in 1:43.72.

For the Griff women, junior Anna Schena finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 10:56.23. Freshman Clare Battaglia secured a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.24.

In the 1000-yard freestyle for the Griff men, the duo of sophomore Sean Wurster (10:03.17) and senior Rob Novak (10:14.19) recorded second- and third-place finishes, respectively. Senior Tyler Carver would place second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.95.

The Golden Griffins return to the Koessler Athletic Center for their final home dual of the season when both teams host SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at 1 p.m. The dual will also mark Senior Day for seven combined seniors, including five on the men's side and two Griffs on the women's side.
