The Canisius College hockey team looks to rebound with a pair of games against Atlantic Hockey rival Mercyhurst in a home-and-home series. The schools are set to meet at the Buffalo State Sports Arena on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. before squaring off in Erie on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.

• Canisius enters the weekend in seventh place in the Atlantic Hockey standings at 7-6-2 and is 8-11-5 overall.
• The Griffs suffered their first conference sweep last weekend, falling to Bentley, 3-2 in overtime and 7-2. The seven goals allowed on Saturday are the most surrendered by Canisius this season.
• Junior Kyle Gibbons led the Griffs with three points (1g, 2a) during the weekend and now leads the team with 16 points and 10 goals.
• Junior Tony Capobianco has anchored the nation's seventh-ranked defense with a 2.13 goals against average and .930 save percentage.

• If Canisius didn't have bad luck this season, they'd have no luck at all.
• The Griffs are still looking for their first one-goal victory of the season, going 0-7-0 in games decided by a tally.
• In addition, the team is 0-3-5 in overtime contests this year.
• If the seventh-place Griffs had just earned ties in each of their three overtime losses, Canisius would be in second in the AHA standings.

• After a slow start to the year, junior Kyle Gibbons has taken the lead for the Griffs.
• Gibbons did not register a point in his first eight games (Canisius' first nine games).
• Since Nov. 10, however, Gibbons has returned to form, recording 10 goals and six assists in 15 games.
• Gibbons' 10 goals during that time are tied for the third most in the country. He has netted at least one goal in nine of the last 15 games.
• The junior now leads Canisius with 16 points and 10 goals this year. He also ranks second in AHA with nine tallies in league play.

• The Griffs' penalty kill has been so good in Atlantic Hockey play that it has almost been to their advantage to be a man down.
• Canisius has allowed only four power-play goals in 51 attempts in AHA play, killing 92.2 percent of its opponents' extra-man chances.
• During the same 51 power plays, Canisius has nearly equaled its opponents' total with three short-handed tallies.

• Overall, the Griff defense has been among the hardest to beat this year.
• Canisius has allowed only 51 goals in 24 games this season.
• The Griffs currently rank seventh nationally and first in Atlantic Hockey with a scoring defense of 2.13 goals per game.

• The Griffs have faced the Lakers more than any other school in the program's history.
• In 71 all-time meetings, Mercyhurst holds a 38-24-9 advantage against Canisius, including a 25-17-8 edge in Division I meetings.
• Despite holding a 39-23 advantage in shots in a meeting earlier in the season, the Lakers edged the Griffs with a 3-2 overtime victory in Erie.
• Overall, Canisius has enjoyed an 8-5-0 edge against the Lakers since the current seniors first arrived on campus but the Lakers have won four of the last five meetings.

• Mercyhurst enters the weekend in second place of the Atlantic Hockey standings with a 9-5-0 league mark and is 11-9-1 overall.
• The Lakers split each of their last five weekend series, losing the opener and winning the finale.
• Ryan Misiak leads the team with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists this season. Chis Bodo has netted a team-best 10 goals, including a Division I best eight power-play tallies.
• Max Strang and Jordan Tibbett have split time in goal. Strang owns an 8-4-0 record with a 2.73 goals against average and .922 percentage, while Tibbett has recorded a 2.82 goals against average and .924 save percentage to go along with a 3-5-0 record.
