  • The Canisius College men's basketball team gets back to action tonight when the team plays at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
  • The Griffs are 12-7 overall and 5-3 in MAAC play after rolling Siena by a score of 76-44 on Jan. 19 in the Koessler Athletic Center.
  • Rider comes into this contest on a five-game winning streak after the Broncs beat Iona 67-62 Jan. 20, at home. Rider is 11-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play this year.


  • Canisius' 32-point win over Siena last Saturday stands as the program's largest margin of victory in a MAAC regular-season game since the team beat Fairfield 91-45 Feb. 8, 1997 in Buffalo.
  • The Griffs improved to 8-1 at home this season with the win over Siena, the team's best record through nine home dates since the 1995-96 season.
  • According to, Canisius currently ranks second in the nation in biggest gains in adjusted offensive efficiency, as the Griffs are scoring 15.3 more points per 100 possessions this season over last year. 
  • As a team, Canisius comes into tonight's game averaging 9.2 3-point field goals per game, which ranks second in the MAAC and fifth in the nation.
  • Senior guard Isaac Sosa was named the MAAC's Player of the Week on Monday after he averaged 21.5 points per game last week against Manhattan and Siena. Sosa comes into tonight's game ranked second in the MAAC in 3-pointers per game (3.1) and he has three or more makes from 3-point land in 11 of the team's last 12 contests.
  • Junior forward Chris Manhertz posted his second double-double of the season against Siena when he had 12 points and 11 rebounds. He's had 10 or more rebounds in seven of the team's eight MAAC games this season.
  • Senior Freddy Asprilla will miss tonight's game with an ankle injury.


  • Rider enters tonight's game riding a five-game winning streak. The Broncs are 11-9 overall and 6-2 in league play after beating Iona Jan. 20 by a score of 67-62.
  • Three of the Broncs' wins on this current streak have come at home, where the team boasts a 5-3 record. The five-straight wins stand as the current active winning streak in the conference.
  • Junior guard Anthony Miles leads the Broncs scoring attack with his 12.5 points per game. He also ranks second on the roster with 5.0 rebounds per game.
  • Junior forward Daniel Stewart is pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the MAAC. He is also chipping in 11.3 points per game while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor.
  • Junior Tommy Pereira was called to action last week when guard Nurideen Lindsey missed times with a concussion. Pereira ranks third in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage at 43.5 percent.


  • This will be the 37th all-time meeting between these two schools, with Rider holding a 29-7 lead in the series.
  • Rider won both games between these two squads last season and the Broncs have taken six of the last eight games from Canisius dating back to the 2008-09 campaign.
  • The Griffs ended their 13-game road losing streak in the series on Feb. 11, 2011 when the Blue and Gold recorded  a 67-65 win in the Alumni Gymnasium. That victory stats as Canisius' only road win in this series, which dates back to Feb. 22, 1930.
