After leading the Canisius College hockey team to a sweep in the Atlantic Hockey First Round, junior Tony Capobianco was named the league's Goaltender of the Week on Monday.

Making the first two postseason appearances of his career, Capobianco shined as the Griffs won both games in a best 2-of-3 series against Bentley. The junior allowed only one goal in the two contests, stopping 70-of-71 shots for a .986 save percentage. He stopped all 35 shots that he saw in a 4-0 win on Friday, before finishing off the series with another 35 saves in a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Capobianco moved to the top of two single-season record lists with his performances during the weekend. The junior now has 1,055 saves during the 2012-13 campaign, surpassing the previous standard of 993 set by Dan Morrison during the 2010-11 season. Capobianco's shutout was also his fourth of the year, breaking a record that he had shared with five other goalies.

The Mississauga, Ontario native has excelled for the Griffs throughout the season, posting a 2.31 goals against average and .929 save percentage. Both numbers are the best in the program's history, while Capobianco currently ranks 14th nationally in save percentage and 26th in goals against average.

Capobianco also currently holds the school records with a 2.61 career goals against average and .923 career save percentage. The weekly honor is the third for Capobianco this season and the fourth of his career.

Capobianco and the Griffs return to action this weekend, playing at Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. The best 2-of-3 series is set to begin on Friday at 9:05 p.m. ET.
