Spiotta Finishes Third at Cornell Invitational

Golf in Fourth at Rhody Invitational

The Canisius College golf team is in fourth place and senior Mike Spiotta is tied for third after his first round score of 76 after day one at the Rhody Invitational in Portsmouth, R.I. As a team, the Golden Griffins shot 315, five strokes behind first-place Rhode Island.

Spiotta shot 38 on the front and the back for his 76 at the Green Valley Country Club. Freshman teammate Andrew Romano is tied for seventh in the field after he posted a 77 and senior Michael Carrig and freshman Hunter Sagar are tied for 27th after each golfer shot an 81 in their first 18 holes.

Canisius will be paired with players from Rhode Island, Sacred Heart and Delaware when the second and final round of the tournament tees off Sunday at 11 a.m.
