Carrig Sits in 10th After Day One in Detroit

Canisius senior Michael Carrig shot an even-par 72 in the second round and the Golden Griffins posted a team-score of 299 in round two on the first day of the Detroit Titan Invitational at Prestwick Village Country Club in Highland, Mich. Carrig's 72, his fifth round of par or better this year, ranks him 10th in the field while the team is in sixth place after 36 holes.

Carrig shot a three-over par score of 75 in round one and is tied for 10th with one other golfer at 147. Freshman Andrew Romano is tied for 19th in the field and fellow freshman Hunter Sagar is tied for 23rd. Romano posted rounds of 76-75 for a score of 151 while Sagar carded a 78-74 effort for a 36-hole score of 152.

"I thought we did a really good job today, especially when you take the conditions into account," Canisius head coach Todd Hummel said. "Scores overall for this entire tournament are better than I thought they'd be. We did a great job battling the cold, windy weather out there."

The host Detroit Titans are in first place as a team after the team scored a two-round tally of 585. Canisius is in sixth, two strokes behind fifth-place Oakland and three strokes back of fourth-place Valparaiso.

The third and final round will tee off Saturday, April 13.
