The Canisius golf team is in 14th place after the first two rounds of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri at the Kaluhyat Course in Verona, N.Y. The Golden Griffins are opening their season at the Turning Stone resort for the fourth time in the last five years.
Sophomore Hunter Sagar led the Blue and Gold with his two-round score of 154, which puts him in a tie for 42nd place. Freshman David Berkun posted back-to-back rounds of 78 in his first college tournament to earn a tie for 48th with his score of 156 and sophomore Zachary Soccio-Marandola is tied for 53rd overall after shooting 75-82 for a 36-hole tally of 157.
The host Missouri Tigers lead the tournament after two rounds with a team score of 563, which is 13 strokes under par. Cleveland State golfer Andrew Bailey is the 36-hole leader after he posted a 66 in round one and a 70 in round two for a two-round total of 136, which is eight under par.
The third and final round of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate is set to tee off at 8 a.m., Monday morning.
