Golf Places Fourth at Leo Keenan Invitational

Three Canisius College golfers placed among the top-15 and the Golden Griffins shot a team score of 300 on Tuesday to take fourth place in the 25th annual Leo Keenan Invitational, hosted by St. Bonaventure at Bartlett Country Club. Robert Morris won the event with a 36-hole team score of 578.

Sophomore Brendan Polsin tied for seventh in the field with his two-round score of 147. Polsin shot a 74 in the final round, following his career-low score of 73 on Monday. Freshman David Berkun tied for 14th after he shot a 79 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 149. Sophomore Andrew Romano also tied for 14th after he carded a 73 in the final round for a tournament score of 149 as well. Freshman Cory Cullen shot a five-over par score of 75 on Tuesday and finished the event tied for 23rd.

Robert Morris golfer Garrett Browning won the indivdual title with his two-dat score of 143 after he shot 73 on Tuesday. LUI-Brooklyn and host St. Bonaventure tied for second in the team scoring, while Canisius and Humber College (597) rounded out the tournament's top-five.

Canisius will return to the links Sept. 21-22, when the team travels to the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y. The 54-hole event starts Saturday, Sept. 21 with 36 holes and the final 18 holes will be played Sunday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club on Cornell's campus.
