The Canisius College men’s soccer team hits the road for a pair of games in Michigan this weekend. The Griffs play at Western Michigan on Friday at 4 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend at Detroit on Sunday at 11 a.m.

• Sophomore midfielder Nicoló Baudo has wasted no time making an impact at Canisius.
• A transfer from Nyack College, Baudo is currently tied for the team lead with five points and two goals this season. He recorded a season-best three points in the Griffs’ 3-2 win against Robert Morris on Sunday and also added a goal versus UMass Lowell.
• Baudo is the first Griff to record five points and two goals in his first five games at the College since Victor Gonzalez recorded seven points and two goals during the 2008 season.

• Canisius has been a slow starter to games this season.
• The Griffs have not scored the first goal in a game in any of their five contests this season. In addition, Canisius has allowed seven of its 11 goals in the first half this year.
• The good news is that while the Griffs own a 2.80 goals against average in the first half, the team has posted a 1.44 goals against average after the intermission and Canisius has outscored teams, 5-4, after halftime.

• The Griffs and Broncos are meeting for the ninth time on the soccer pitch.
• Western Michigan currently holds a 5-3-0 advantage in the all-time series.
• The schools met at the Demske Sports Complex last season with a Regan Steele goal marking the only score in a 1-0 Canisius win.

• Western Michigan is 2-4-0 on the season, earning wins in its last two games against Northern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois.
• Matheau Rogers leads the team with eight points, three goals and two assists in 2013. Oliver Mayer ranks second on the Broncos with four points and two goals.
• Chase Rau has seen a majority of time in goal for Western Michigan, posting a 2.97 goals against average and .483 save percentage.

• The Titans have won six of nine meetings between the two schools.
• Canisius, however, is 3-1-0 against Detroit in the last four games in the series.
• In a matchup in Buffalo last season, Canisius earned a 4-2 victory against the Titans. Gavin Falconer led the Griffs with two goals, while Denver Spearman and Alex De Carolis each added a tally.

• Detroit enters the weekend with a 0-2-3 mark, losing a pair of one-goal games last weekend.
• The Titans have scored only two goals in five games this season.
• Four of Detroit’s five games this season have gone into overtime.
• Patrick Soltys and Trevor Flynn have both netted goals for the Titans.
• Nathan Steinwascher has played every minute in net for Detroit, posting a 0.68 goals against average and .892 save percentage.
