The Canisius College men’s soccer team travels to face MAAC foe Quinnipiac on Saturday. The two schools, who are both tied for second in the conference standings with seven points, are set to meet at 3 p.m. in Hamden, Conn.

• Canisius has played to the last whistle this season and has been rewarded with its play in overtime.
• The Griffs have played five overtime contests in 2013, resulting in a 3-0-2 record.
• It marks the first time in program’s history that Canisius has won three extra-session games in a single season. The Griffs had previously won two overtime games during the 1999, 2007 and 2011 campaigns.
• Asani Samuels have scored two of the Griffs’ three overtime goals this season, including the game-winner on Wednesday against Siena.
• Samuels is just the second player in school history to net two overtime goals in the same season. Gavin Falconer also accomplished the feat during the 2011 campaign.

• Canisius is having success in 2013 thanks to its offensive output in the second half.
• The Griffs have scored 16 of their MAAC-leading 19 goals after the halftime intermission (13 in the second half and three in overtime).
• Canisius’ 16 goals after the break are by far the most in the MAAC. Fairfield currently ranks second in the league with 10 goals in the second half.
• In MAAC play this season, the Griffs have scored all seven of their goals after the halftime intermission.

• Another reason for the Griffs’ top-ranked offense in the MAAC has to do with the team’s ability to draw fouls in the box.
• Canisius has been awarded five penalty kicks this season. Will Hudson has attempted all five penalty kicks, converting four of them.
• The league average among the other 10 schools in the MAAC is just 1.20 penalties per team. Only Fairfield – who has attempted four – has also had more than two kicks from the spot in 2013.

• The schools are meeting for the first time in a conference matchup after Quinnipiac joined the MAAC this year from the NEC.
• The teams have met three times in non-conference action from 2003 to 2008 with the Bobcats claiming all three contests.
• Quinnipiac defeated the Griffs in the schools’ last meeting in 2008, 3-2, at the Demske Sports Complex.

• Quinnipiac is unbeaten in its last four games and is 4-3-4 overall this season.
• The Bobcats, along with Canisius, are in a four-way tie for second in the MAAC standings with a 2-0-1 record.
• Simon Hinde leads the Bobcats with 12 points and six goals this season, while Michael Baker ranks second on the squad with six points (2g, 2a).
• Boria Angoitia has started all 11 games in net with a 0.85 goals against average and .808 save percentage.
