Brenner Joins Buffalo Coaching Staff

Kevin Brenner, an assistant coach with the Canisius College men’s soccer program the last three seasons, will join the coaching staff at the University at Buffalo, announced by the school on Monday.

Brenner spent the last three years helping to elevate the Golden Griffin program to new heights during his tenure. Also the team’s recruiting coordinator, Brenner was key in leading the Griffs to 15 wins during the last two seasons – the most in any two-year span in school history.

“I would like to thank Kevin for all the hard work he put into the Golden Griffin soccer program,” said Canisius head coach Dermot McGrane. “While we are very sorry to lose Kevin, we are grateful for his time here and wish him good luck in his new role as the University at Buffalo’s top assistant with my good friend Stu Riddle.”

The highlight for the Griffs during the last three years was the 2012 season when Canisius reached as high as second in the NSCAA North Atlantic poll and received votes in the national poll for the first time in the program’s history. Canisius matched a school-record with eight wins during the season and have had three players selected to the NSCAA All-Region Team during the last two years – matching the program’s entire total before McGrane and Brenner’s arrival.

Prior to joining the Griffs’ staff, Brenner spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Buffalo State.
