Senior forward Kyle Gibbons of the Canisius College hockey team is among the players nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, handed out to the nation’s top player.
Fans can vote for the player they believe deserves the award by visiting hobeybaker.com and clicking the Vote for Hobey icon (click here). The first phase ends March 9 and the list will be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists with the second phase beginning on March 20.
Gibbons leads the Griffs with 19 points and nine goals during his senior campaign. The Westlake, Ohio native also ranks first on the team and places 11th nationally with five power-play goals this season.
During his four-year career, Gibbons has totaled 111 points, 51 goals and 60 assists. He is one of nine active players nationally with 100 career points and 50 career goals, while placing sixth in the program’s history in career points and second in career goals.
Gibbons and the Griffs return to the ice on Saturday, hosting Bentley in Atlantic Hockey action. Game time at the Buffalo State Sports Arena is set for 12:05 p.m.
