Over the coming weeks, GoGriffs.com will be featuring the newcomers to the Canisius women's lacrosse team. Today's installment features Janae Guy, freshman defender from Canandaigua, N.Y. (Previous installments: Taylor Giglio, Ashley Heisler, Rachel Toole, Shannon Pelitera, and Samantha Bianchi)

1. Why did you choose to attend Canisius?
I chose this college because I knew it had good academics. The lacrosse program is also very strong, and I really like coach Teeter.

2. What is your favorite memory lacrosse memory?
Making it all the way to the state finals my junior year of lacrosse.

3. When did you first start playing lacrosse?
I started playing lacrosse in second grade.

4. Being a member of the Canisius women’s lacrosse team is… really enjoyable, all the upperclassmen make you feel welcome. It feels as if we are all the family, and that any member of the team would be there if we needed them.

 

Favorite athlete: LeBron James
Hobbies: Boating, reading, playing basketball and lacrosse
Favorite movie: Bridesmaids
Favorite TV show: Revenge
Favorite book: The Lucky One
Favorite musician: 
Luke Bryan
Pre-game ritual/superstition: I recite the Our Father prayer before games.
If you were to play another sport, what would it be? Basketball
Interesting fact about yourself: I did ballet up until my sophomore year in high school
Best advice you’ve received: Not everything comes easy, so push yourself, and always stay focused.
