Well another year has come and gone and it was a successful year for CCWLAX; we managed to win the MAAC Championship, giving the seniors a ring for all four fingers. The saying on the back of our shirts this year was “RAISE IT” and I defiantly think we did that this year. We beat a major program in our win against Ohio State and brought the program to a new level when we played UNC and Syracuse. We became the first team in MAAC women’s lacrosse history to win four consecutive titles and the second team in school history to win four-straight MAAC Championships. We made it into the NCAA tournament and fell to Penn in a hard fought game to the end.

We may not have won on the field this past Friday, but we sure won in the parking lot where our parents through a top notch tailgate. We had food covered with baby back ribs, barbecue chicken, cucumber salad and fresh squeezed lemonade to name a few popular items. The tailgate didn’t stop with great food, we had entertainment covered too! A dance competition turned dance party broke out on the pavement with choreographed routines and lines dances that got everyone involved. It didn’t take long for parents and siblings to join in; I think the team finally understand where I get my dance moves from after my dad’s duet turned solo performance complete with his version of a jig. All in all it was a great weekend and a wonderful way to end the season. The next morning we were up bright and early to start the eight hour trip back to Buffalo where we’d have to say our finale goodbyes for the summer.

This summer the Griffs are taking on quite a lot. Three Griffs are taking a summer class in Rome, another is traveling to Paris with her family, and one is off to Bermuda, while yet another will be volunteering in Poland through Campus Ministry. A few will spend their summer learning the tools of the trade through the amazing internships they have landed. You can find some back on the sidelines of the beloved summer tournaments, but this time as coaches. While we aren’t busy working, traveling or enjoying the summer’s warmth we will all be working hard to “Strive for Five”, “One for the Thumb” and to “Play in May;" all possible slogans for our campaign to win a fifth consecutive MAAC Championship and make it to the NCAA tournament.

It has been fun writing the women’s lacrosse addition of the Campus Chronicle this season and I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I have!

Just keep Re’Laxin,

Alexis Roskovich (now junior...very weird)

I would also like to wish each of our seniors, good luck next year; we know the four of you will do great things; even if that means becoming a professional skateboarder, Gabe, and a jockey in Zimbabwe, Steph. The phrase “Once a Griff, Always a Griff” couldn’t be more true; you’ll be missed, but we know you are on to bigger and better things.
