FAST BREAK POINTS

  • The Canisius College men's basketball team starts a five-game road swing tonight at Howard.
  • The Golden Griffins are coming off a 68-66 come-from-behind win Saturday over long-time rival St. Bonaventure.
  • The Blue and Gold trailed by five with 34 seconds left and won the game on a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Julius Coles with 5.4 seconds left on the clock.
  • The win in the HSBC Arena snapped Canisius' two game losing streak in the building and improved the Blue and Gold to 3-2 all-time in the arena against St. Bonaventure.
  • The Griffs are 2-3 entering tonight's game, while the Howard Bison stand at 1-4.
  • Dating back to Nov. 25, Canisius is in the midst of a stretch where the team is scheduled to play seven of nine games on the road through Dec. 30.
  • The Griffs are 2-1 at home this season and 0-2 on the road.
  • This will be the program's first game in the nation's capital since Dec. 13, 2003, when the Griffs played at, and defeated Howard.
  • This is just the second game in the last 20 years that Canisius has played in Washington, D.C.
  • Junior center Chris Gadley leads the Canisius offense with his 15.6 points per game. Gadley sat out 2007-08 after transferring to Canisius from Hofstra University. 
  • Gadley's 15.6 points per game scoring average in his first five games as a Griff is a result of the fact that he has scored in double figures in all five games this year after he posted 13 points in the win over St. Bonaventure.
  • Canisius had five players post double-figures in the scoring column Nov. 29, the first time that has happened since Feb. 10, 2008 at Manhattan.
  • Junior guard Frank Turner led the team in scoring with 15 points in the win over St. Bonaventure. In three career games in the HSBC Arena, Turner is averaging 12.7 points per game.
  • Turner played in all 40 minutes of Saturday's game, the 15th time in his career he's logged 40-plus minutes in a game.
  • Sophomore Greg Logins had 12 points in the win over the Bonnies Nov. 29 after he matched a career-high with four 3-point field goals.
  • Sophomore Julius Coles played in a career-high 38 minutes Nov. 29, and set a new career best with four assists.
  • Coles leads the Griffs with 10 steals in the first two games of the season. He recorded eight steals all of last season and start's tonight's game tied for fifth in the MAAC in steals per game average.

ABOUT THE BISON

  • Howard enters tonight's game with a 1-4 mark after falling at home to Illinois-Chicago Nov. 25.
  • The Bison have dropped four straight after defeating Oregon State 47-45 in the season opener for both squads.
  • As a team, Howard is averaging 52.6 points per game and being out rebounded by an average margin of 33.2.
  • Eugene Myatt is the only Howard player to average double figures in the scoring column with his 12.8 points per game.
  • Sophomore forward Adam Walker leads the team in rebounding average at 6.0 boards per contest.  

CANISIUS-HOWARD SERIES

  • Tonight's game between Canisius and Howard is the third all-time meeting between the two schools, with each team having a road win in the series.
  • The first time these two schools met was Dec. 13, 2003, when the Griffs beat the Bison here in Washington, D.C., by a score of 55-50.
