For the second-consecutive week, junior Tony Capobianco of the Canisius College hockey team earned Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors, announced by the league on Monday.

Capobianco led the Griffs to a sweep against Connecticut during the weekend. The junior stopped 81-of-82 shots that he saw in the two victories, posting a 0.50 goals against average and .988 save percentage. In Friday's 3-0 victory, Capobianco stopped all 36 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season and the second of his career. He then followed with a 45-save performance during a 3-1 victory on Saturday, matching his career high in stops.

The weekend highlighted what has been a strong season for Capobianco. The junior has anchored the nation's fifth-ranked scoring defense this year, placing fifth in the country with a .942 save percentage and 10th with a 1.83 goals against average.

During his career, Capobianco has appeared in 44 games with a 2.61 goals against average and .924 save percentage. Both career marks rank first in the program's history, while Capobianco's single-season stats are also the highest in the school's record book.

The weekly honor is the fourth for Capobianco during his career, including his third Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week selection. He is the first Griff to collect Goaltender of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks since Canisius joined Atlantic Hockey prior to the 2003-04 campaign.

Capobianco and the Griffs return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 18, playing at Mercyhurst.
