For the second consecutive year, Canisius College Women’s Lacrosse player Gina Molfetta has been named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, the organization recently announced.
Molfetta, a senior goaltender was a member of the three consecutive MAAC Championship teams. In 2013, she saw action in six contests, getting one start. She had a 9.03 GAA during her senior campaign.
Molfetta, who graduated with her degree in Early Childhood Development is a two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week during her career. She is also a three-time member of the league's all-academic squad.
As a team, the Griffs also earned Academic Squad distinction for recording a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior and maintain a 3.5 GPA.
The three-time defending MAAC Champions, Canisius finished the 2013 campaign with a 14-5 record, falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Griffs return nine starters and 19 letterwinners from the 2013 team.
