A total of eight Canisius College softball players have been named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association office recently announced. The awards, presented by the NFCA, recognize student-athletes for their work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.
Former Canisius players Chloe Contreras, Katie Medina and Stephanie Pfentner were honored by the NFCA, as was current senior Valorie Nappo. Juniors Michelle DelPrince and Marissa Miller were recognized for their work in the classroom, as were current sophomores Bethany DeMarco and Tori Nappo.
To be eligible for the NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must hold a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the entire academic year.
