Canisius College head men’s basketball coach Jim Baron announced today that the Golden Griffins will play a road game at St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, with tipoff set for 4 p.m. The game against the Terriers replaces the previously scheduled game between Canisius and Stony Brook, which will now be played in the Koessler Athletic Center during the 2014-15 season.
St. Francis Brooklyn went 12-18 overall and 8-10 in Northeast Conference play last season. Junior forward Jalen Cannon averaged 14.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season to lead the Terriers’ attack. This will mark the 11th all-time meeting between the Griffs and the Terries, with Canisius leading the series 6-4. The teams last met Dec. 10, 2010, in the Koessler Athletic Center where St. Francis Brooklyn, a 76-58 win for the Terriers.
Additionally, the Griffs’ game at Notre Dame Dec. 29, will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Including the Notre Dame game, Canisius is currently scheduled to appear on the ESPN family of networks six times in 2013-14.Canisius will officially open the 110th season in program history Monday, Nov. 11, when the Blue and Gold plays host to South Dakota in the Koessler Athletic Center.
