The Canisius College men’s soccer team welcomes MAAC foe Iona to the Demske Sports Complex on Saturday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.

SHOOTING GALLERY
• Canisius has controlled most of the games it has played in this season.
• The Griffs currently lead the MAAC with 15.20 shots per game, nearly three shots more than second-place Siena. Canisius also ranks first in conference play with 14.43 shots per game.
• Unfortunately, controlling the tempo has not led to positive results. The Griffs are 2-4-1 in MAAC play with all four losses coming by just one tally.
• In addition, Canisius has not scored in its last two games despite finishing with a 31-17 advantage in shots. It marked the first time since the 2011 season that the Griffs were blanked in consecutive games.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
• Canisius has relied on its international players to find the back of the net this season.
• The Griffs’ roster features a total of nine players from five additional countries other than the United States.
• Those nine players currently account for 16 of the team’s 20 goals (80 percent) and seven of the team’s 11 assists (63.6 percent) in 2013.
• In addition, Canisius’ top five scorers during the season are all international players.

CANISIUS – IONA SERIES HISTORY
• In a series that dates back to the 1990 season, Iona holds a 16-6-3 advantage over the Griffs.
• Canisius has been much more competitive as of late with the Gaels owning an 8-5-1 edge in the last 14 meetings.
• Last season, the Gaels used a late tally in the 88th minute to pull out a 3-2 victory at Canisius.

ABOUT THE GAELS
• Iona has won its last three contests and is 8-6-2 overall on the season and 5-2-1 in MAAC play.
• Franklin Castellanos leads the Gaels with 24 points on six goals and 12 assists. Ignacio Maganto is right behind with 21 points, netting a team-best nine goals to go along with three assists.
• Julian Petrello has played all 16 games in net, posting a 0.93 goals against average and .805 save percentage.
