The Canisius College men's basketball team will close out the 2013 NIT Season Tip Off tonight when the Golden Griffins play Metro State, the No. 1-ranked team at the NCAA Division II level. The Roadrunners are the first Division II school in NIT Season Tip Off history to win two games over Division I opponents. The Griffs are 2-1 in this year's event after beating Georgia State 79-71 Monday night in Elon's Alumni Gym.

• Canisius comes into tonight’s game against Metro State with a 3-2 record after the Golden Griffins defeated Georgia State 79-71 last night in the NIT Season Tip Off consolation round.
• In last night’s win over Georgia State, three Griffs scored in double figures, led by senior guard Billy Baron, who scored a game-high 26 points for the Blue and Gold. He is averaging a team-high 22.8 points per game this season.
• Senior Chris Perez scored a season-high 22 points for Canisius in the win last night, with 16 of those points coming in the game’s first 20 minutes of play.
• Combined with the Griffs’ win over Elon Nov. 19, Canisius is shooting 53.6 percent (59-for-110) from the field in their last two games.

• This is the second time Canisius has taken part in the NIT Season Tip Off event. The Griffs are 3-2 all-time in the NIT Season Tip Off, having previously gone 1-1 in the 1994-95 event.
• Senior center Jordan Heath had a season-high 13 points in the win over Georgia State last night and was credited with a career-high four assists in the victory as well.
• Senior forward Chris Manhertz was credited with seven rebounds last night, the 39th time in his career where he has pulled seven or more rebounds down in a game.
• Dating back to last season, Canisius is 7-3 in the month of November.
• This is the 110th season of Canisius men’s basketball. The Griffs are the first MAAC school to reach the 110-year varsity anniversary.

• Metro State comes into tonight’s game with an overall record of 2-0, but the Roadrunners are 2-1 in this year’s NIT Season Tip Off, having beaten Fairleigh Dickinson and Elon.
• The Roadrunners are the first Division II program to win two games in the NIT Season Tip Off in the event’s history.
• Ranked No. 1 at the NCAA Division II level, Metro State went 32-3 last year and ended the season as the NCAA Division II runner-up.
• Junior guard Mitch McCarron is averaging 27.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the Roadrunners’ three NIT Season Tip Off games this year.
• Senior Brandon Jefferson is chipping in 16.7 points per game during the team’s NIT Season Tip Off experience. All of Metro State’s NIT Season Tip Off games are exhibition games for the Roadrunners.
• Metro State is 2-0 this year against fellow Division II schools, having beaten Texas A&M Kingsville Nov. 15 and West Texas A&M Nov. 16. In those two games, the Roadrunners are averaging 69 points per game.

• Tonight’s game between Canisius and Metro State will mark the first meeting in program history.
• Dating back to 2005-06, Canisius is 11-9 in its last 20 games when meeting an opponent for the in school history.
• This will be the Griffs’ first regular-season game against a Division II school since Nov. 29, 2003, when the team lost to Alaska-Anchorage 72-67 in the consolation round of the 2003 Great Alaska Shoot-Out.
