For the first time in the 2013-14 season, the Canisius swimming and diving team will take to the Koessler Athletic Center pool in a weekend matchup with Fredonia.
The Griffs – who swam their only other home meet of the season at the Burt Flickenger Center at E.C.C. – have been on the road for five straight meets coming into this dual.
This weekend’s matchup will be split over the course of two days, with diving Friday and swimming Saturday.
Junior Eddie Quarantillo has led the Griffs on the boards this season, having taken first place in the last five meets in the 3-meter dive, and also has three first place finishes in the 1-meter dive.
On the women’s side, sophomore Audrey Mulhisen and junior Taylor Epstein have both shown strong performances this season, with each earning MAAC Diver of the Week this year.
In the pool, the Griffs are coming off a split at Cleveland State, with both the men and women falling to Cleveland State, but topping Notre Dame College.
Freshmen Matt Tanchick and Colin Landweer along with sophomore Spencer Bray led Canisius by earning a pair of individual victories each in the meet. Quarantillo and sophomore Alicia Wheeler took home first place finishes as well, with Wheeler setting a new season-best time in the 100-yard butterfly.
Last week’s results move the men to 7-2 in dual meets this year, while the women moved to 5-4.
Diving is set to get underway on Friday at 6 p.m., while swimming is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
