Freshman Lauren D’Hont was voted by the league’s coaches to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, the MAAC announced on Monday. D’Hont is now eligible to be named the MAAC Rookie of the Year, which will be announced on Friday, at 5 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The show will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.

D’Hont averaged 4.3 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from behind the arc, the highest percentage among MAAC freshmen. The Pittsford, N.Y. native ranked third among MAAC freshmen with 22 made 3-pointers. She scored in double figures five times, including each of the first two games of the season. D’Hont scored a career-high 14 points, making four 3-pointers, against Niagara on Feb. 7.

D’Hont becomes the ninth Golden Griffin under 10th-year coach Terry Zeh to be selected to the MAAC All-Rookie Team, the highest total in the conference since 2005-06. No other team in the MAAC has more than five selections during the past nine years.

The No. 5 seed Canisius women’s basketball team faces No. 4 seed Quinnipiac University in the quarterfinals of the MAAC Championship. Tipoff at the MassMutual Center is set for 2:30 p.m. Mike Scott will be on the call on GoGriffs.com, the only place to listen to the game as no video broadcast will be available.
