Women's Lacrosse Takes on Rival Niagara Wednesday

Scouting the Griffs
• The Griffs enter Wednesday’s contest riding a four-game winning streak and now sit 5-1 in MAAC play.

• Canisius is averaging 13.93 goals per game, a total that would be tops in program history.
• The Griffs are averaging 19.25 goals over their four-game winning streak.

MAAC Championships Bound

• With the Griffs topping Monmouth on Saturday, and Niagara falling to Manhattan the same day, Canisius officially clinched a berth in the MAAC Championships.
• The Griffs won the last three MAAC titles and have now made seven-straight MAAC Championships.
• Canisius became the first women’s lacrosse team to win three-straight titles in league history last season.

Battle of the Bridge
• In addition to its importance in terms of postseason significance, each game with Niagara has added meaning as it’s also worth two points in the Battle of the Bridge standings.

• The Battle of the Bridge is an all-sports competition between the two schools, with the winner being awarded the Canal Cup.
• With the softball team’s split with Niagara on Monday, Canisius has clinched the championship for the fourth-straight season, with three sports yet to be decided.

• Junior attacker Tori Quinn earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Week for her seven-point outburst in the Griffs’ most recent win over Monmouth.
• It was the sixth time this season that Quinn has scored five points or more.
• Quinn’s 59 points are three behind team-leader Maria Kotas.

Hot Starts
• Since their last loss, the Griffs have made it a point to get off to a better start.
• The Griffs have outscored their opponents 40-16 in the first half of their last four games.
• Canisius has taken no less than a five-goal lead into the locker room in their last three contests.

Dominating the Draw
• Canisius leads the restart battle 101-75 in MAAC play this season.
• A stat category that has plagued the Griffs over recent years, Canisius has won the stat category in its last four contests, including winning 36 of their last 54 in the last two games.
• The Griffs performance on the circle has been highlighted by sophomore midfielder Ashley Bull winning a school-record 10 draw controls against Siena.

Scouting the Purple Eagles
• Niagara enters Wednesday’s contest needing a win to stay alive in the hunt for the MAAC Championships.
• They enter Wednesday’s contest 6-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.
• Carrie-Jo Farrugia leads Niagara offensively with 46 points.
• Andrea Francisco has played the majority of minutes in net and has a 6-5 record in MAAC play. She has a 13.36 goals against average with 76 saves.

Series History
• Canisius is 9-10 against Niagara all-time.
• The teams last met on April 3, 2014, when the Griffs won 14-4.
• Quinn had five points (two goals and three assists) and Kotas chipped in four points (two goals and two assists) in that contest.
• Junior goalkeeper Kayla Scully allowed just one goal over 38 minutes in the game.
