Sophomore Brett Siddall has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.

As Canisius wrapped up the MAAC regular-season title and extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 16 games, Siddall went 8-for-13 with four runs scored and eight RBI. The sophomore outfielder also recorded four walks and an HBP to post a .722 on-base percentage. Siddall had three doubles and a triple to record a 1.000 slugging percentage on the week. He had at least one hit and one RBI in each game, including a 4-for-4 performance with three RBI in the 15-4 series opener against Monmouth.

Siddall leads the MAAC with a .359 batting average to go along with 27 runs scored, 11 doubles, 42 RBI, a .529 slugging percentage and .441 on-base percentage. He enters the postseason on a career-long 12-game hitting streak (19-for-42).

Siddall gives Canisius nine weekly awardwinners from the conference office this season. No other school in the MAAC won more than five.

The No. 1 seed Golden Griffins open play in the 2014 MAAC Championship on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. The six-team, double-elimination tournament is taking place at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, N.J.
